Research, Research And Research Some More

We can’t stress this point enough. When you set off on your adventure and you’re going to be away from home and conveniences for a length of time, having the right Motorhome and all the essentials will be paramount. You’ll also want to know where your campsites are, the best service stations and repair shops just in case along your route. Map out how long it will take you to get there and factor in known road works and traffic to ensure you arrive with plenty of light to set up and relax.

Make A List And Check It Twice

Start with a list of what you need to bring. Add the must-haves and the nice-to-haves in case you run out of space. Also take into account if you have a new or second-hand Motorhome. Is their warranty and paperwork that you have to take in case you need to service or repair on the road. Don’t forget to factor in liquids that you’ll need to carry such as Water, diesel and petrol if you plan to travel long distances without a known rest stop.

Test Everything

Jump in your Motorhome and take it for a drive. Test that everything within your Motorhome works and functions the way you need it to. Turn on the air conditioning and heating, test the Microwave, fridge, freezer and oven. Book your van into a service centre and have them do a pre-trip inspection on brakes, shock tyres etc.

Make A Plan

What’s your contingency plan if you hit bad weather? We’d love to see you travel through glorious weather at all times, but if you do hit some rough times you’ll want a plan of what you’re going to do and also have some back up meals planned out so you don’t have to try and find an undercover BBQ or take away in the pouring rain.

Check the weather and prepare as much as you can before setting off.

Technology Upgrades

Lastly, technology today has made travelling more predictable. Make sure your phones software is up to date, that you’ve downloaded all apps that may help and that you’ve learnt how to use them effectively. You’ll find plenty of free apps for campsites, weather, things to do and more, but you may want to spend a few bucks and upgrade to some of the paid versions so you can connect with fellow travellers along the way.
